Men’s Fitness
Men’s Fitness represents the refined balance of muscular development, structure, and flow, defined by a powerful V-taper and an exceptionally developed midsection.
Judging Focus
- Balanced and intentional muscular development, where all muscle groups contribute evenly to overall structure and proportion
- Refinement of shape over muscular size, ensuring development enhances silhouette, flow, and visual balance
- A strong, uninterrupted V-taper, achieved through controlled upper-body development and a well-managed waistline
- Exceptional midsection quality, with clear development and detail that strengthens structure without disrupting proportion
- Restraint from exaggerated muscularity, ensuring physiques do not display excessive size, excessive thickness, or exaggerated development that does not best complement the intent of the division
- Conditioning that supports fullness and shape, avoiding extremes that introduce harshness, density, or visual heaviness

Judging Points
- Balance between all muscle groups with emphasis on 6-pack and athletic appearance
- Symmetry and overall balance is a major judging factor
- Stage presence and confidence of an athletic model
- Overall aesthetically pleasing look

Divisions
Divisions may be split into further classes once over a certain number of competitors. Some divisions will not run unless there is 3 or more competitors entered into them. With the exception of some age groups & First Timer divisions that a competitor might not be eligible to enter into at their next event.
Division Overview
Men’s Fitness is a physique division centred on absolute balance across all muscle groups, a highly pronounced V-taper, and a strong emphasis on structure, proportion, and visual flow. Athletes are assessed on their ability to present a physique that is muscular yet controlled, refined yet powerful, and aesthetically complete without excessive size, thickness, or exaggeration.
Core Principles
The muscularity of a Men’s Fitness athlete should complement the development of the silhouette, intentionally enhancing structure and shape without dominating the physique or expressing exaggerated muscularity. Development must serve flow, proportion, and overall presentation, allowing the V-taper and midsection to remain the defining features.
Division Philosophy
Men’s Fitness exists to reward physiques that reflect intentional muscular development guided by restraint. The division values refinement, balance, and structure over maximal mass, rewarding athletes who demonstrate discipline and precision in their physical development.
Rather than prioritising size or density, Men’s Fitness celebrates physiques that achieve visual impact through proportion, flow, and controlled muscularity.
Key Requirements
Athletes competing in Men’s Fitness must demonstrate the following core elements:
Balanced muscular development
Muscular development must be intentional and proportionate across all major muscle groups, enhancing overall structure, flow, and silhouette without any area becoming visually dominant.
Exceptional V-taper and midsection
The physique must display a strong, uninterrupted shoulder-to-waist taper supported by an exceptionally developed midsection, demonstrating quality, control, and detail that enhances overall structure.
Excessive Torso Thickness
Excessive chest or back thickness that causes the torso to appear truncated or visually shortened is not aligned with the intent of the division.
Overdevelopment and excessive density
Any muscle group displaying excessive size or density that disrupts balance, flow, or silhouette, or detracts from refinement and proportion, is not appropriate for this division.
Muscularity Standards
Muscularity in Men’s Fitness must reflect intentional development, not maximal or exaggerated size. Muscle groups should appear full, proportionate, and refined, contributing to seamless flow throughout the physique.
Development that creates visual heaviness or disrupts structure is not preferred, including:
Excessive Upper-Body Thickness
Excessive upper-body thickness that shortens or truncates the torso.
Overwhelming Lower-Body Development
Lower-body development that overwhelms overall balance.
Excessive Density
Overall density that detracts from flow and silhouette.
Conditioning Standards
Conditioning in Men’s Fitness approaches a high level of leanness; however, fullness and muscle quality take priority over extreme dryness. Athletes should present clear muscular definition and midsection detail without sacrificing roundness or visual density. Excessive vascularity or conditioning that compromises fullness and flow is not preferred. Conditioning should support clarity, structure, and refinement without appearing harsh or depleted.
Overall Presentation
The ideal Men’s Fitness physique presents flow, shape, and refinement, with muscular development complementing structure and enhancing the V-taper rather than dominating it. Men’s Fitness represents a physique where structure, balance, and refined muscularity combine to create a powerful yet aesthetically controlled presentation.
